My Wife’s GP practice Kiltearn Medical Centre in Nantwich Cheshire 13K patients in a modern purpose built premesis https://lnkd.in/ed985Yc are advertising for a new practice manager due to retirement. Nantwich is a wonderful market town in leafy south cheshire with great links to chester wales and the M6 as well as Crewe station for manchester Liverpool Birmingham and london (1h35m) The job is on NHS jobs - NHS experience isn’t necessary as they have finance and contracts leads - they are a young(ish) dynamic partnership who pride themselves on quality - it would be great position!

Howbeck Healthcare have now run several successful workshops on “what GP federations are about and how to work with them” and “how GPs get paid and think and how to engage them”. These have been aimed at pharma companies wanting an update on what’s going on in primary care for their reps or managers. If you are interested get in touch.

Here's how crazy the NHS is.

Here’s how crazy the NHS is. We (as a practice) have been asked to switch one brand of inhaler to another. it will save the CCG £17K if we do this. its quite a bit of work for us. they wont fund us to do this - its our duty - despite having had £75K of funding pulled from us the other day for things that they largely agree we are delivering above and beyond our contract. The suggestion to minimise the workload to us is to refer every patient we switch to a local pharmacist who can explain it to them as they will get paid £28 per person for doing that. Its a different budget apparently…

Back when I was urgent care lead for the old CECPCT I was convinced the 4 hour target and its push to admit people at 3 hrs and 59 mins was the main problem - not 1. the hospital 2. the patients or 3 the GPs. have a look at https://lnkd.in/eDhbYPR seems to agree with me. political targets are a mistake - they might have destroyed our urgent care system - makes you wonder what the insistence on 7d working will do.

Why GPs are important - Just come across this slide from a well known Public Health Expert B Starfield - In Ontario Canada in the 90s, declining numbers of GPs (what we have now in the UK) was associated with a lower likely hood of early diagnosis and 5 year survival from breast cancer. #loveyourgp!

We are looking for someone in the marketing/publicity industry to create a “brochure” and jazz up the website (more in terms of copy than IT) for our local GP federation to help advertise us to our partner organisations and the public. email me if interested or if you can recommend someone.

To all those who expressed an interest in working with Mike and I - Mikes created this survey to help us gather data on potential Associates. We have been working on building a client list & now have some projects that need help, we’ve already “employed” a couple of people. NB our intention isn’t to have 100% of peoples time or to have 100% of our associates working for us at any one time - our idea is more to have a list of people out there know their skills sets, know their rates & preferred T&Cs & if & when an appropriate job comes up. https://lnkd.in/eTYuYvq

Does anyone know what triggers the message on NHSmail “Warning: This message contains unverified links which may not be safe. You should only click links if you are sure they are from a trusted source.” Some emails Im sending with links trigger it and some don’t. Its a right pain when Im trying to send a link of a site for people to use and half of them email me back saying my link is dodgy when i know it isnt. I’ve noticed on other emails - some have it when there is a link and some don’t. What makes NHSMail trust you?

Michael Pyrah and I are interested in building a list of associates to work with us, initially in the Cheshire, Stoke & Staffs area. We currently support 2GP federations & are taking on others. We are looking for people with skills in outsourcing, HR, finance, procurement, IT, bid writing, service redesign and project management. Experience in NHS and in particular primary care is desirable. We have a vision of how to transform primary care for the future that is appealing to an increasing number of practices and is GP, public and other NHS body friendly. If you are interested get in touch!
