Due to impending retirement & expansion of our list size we are advertising for 2 salaried doctors goes into the BMJ this weekend. Experienced candidates preferred.
I predict 1. the imminent end of the NHS pension scheme and 2. that every GP in country over 55 will retire in April or the one after. Letter from NHS pensions agency this week on loosing tax free payments where growth is over a certain level will effectively mean its not worth anyone over 55 whos been in the scheme for 25+ years continuing to pay into it. They will all retire and if they come back will probably cut their hours. This will have massive workload implications.
GP scheme praised as ‘successful’ by the Government & cited as a model for its pilot of evenings&weekends has yet to start! from Pulse.
Anyone own/run/know of a mobile plain xray service that will operate in cheshire?

Just been looking over a table on emergency admissions by GP practice - quite a variation - easy to start saying some are good and some are bad however I suspect there are several factors at work that the raw doesn’t capture. 1. experience of GPs including Registrars 2. continuity of care including FT/PT split 3. ease of access 4. quality of community nursing 5. age demographics of the practice and 6 readmission rate which i think is a positive feedback loop. the more admissions you get the more readmissions you get so the more admissions you get….. Has anyone looked at these variables?
