The GMC and NHS England have developed an app that includes a virtual tour of a GP practice and a patients journey seeking healthcare to try and explain UK general practice to foreign GP who might be interested in working here.
Primary care varies quite a lot from country to country and I think this is a great idea to try and attract the right candidates and put off those that won’t enjoy our type of medicine.
I wonder 2 things. 1. Whether a guide for patients on how to navigate primary care (not just GPs) might be a good thing and 2. going back to my columns on doctors learning from their mistakes whether a huge bank of cases could be build up so trainee GPs could see and hear consultations not just read about them.
