Is it time to replace EMIS?
Was on a pan Cheshire GP leads call last week when serious discussion broke out about whether there was an alternative to EMIS that was viable.“ “ “This is perhaps the first time Ive heard this discussed at this level. My opinion is that people are fed up of the poor performance, poor functionality and are starting to see it as a hinderance than an enabler. “ “ “The current conclusion was the grass might not always be greener - is the alternative any better? But me thinks there is now a huge opportunity for some real disruptive technology. “ “ “Personally I think the appointment system/module needs a complete rehaul, the internal messaging/tasks system perhaps needs linking to something like Teams and Office 365, the consultation/prescribing and document modules would benefit from some machine learning/AI and an UI refresh. Ive long wondered about whether separating the data from the interface is the way forward?
