Integrated Healthcare System

In this post Dr Paul discusses the new report on Manchesters Integrated Care Systems (ICS’s).

“I’m really worried that one of the biggest changes to the NHS, probably on par with the Lansley reforms, is going on almost behind the scenes (how many people are talking about the health and social care act – the today programme gave it about 45 seconds yesterday – they talked about Genesis reforming for longer!)

We are rushing headlong into an integrated health care system based on a premise that Kaiser Permanente and others similar ICSs in the States work… yet the just published report on the Integrated healthcare system test in Greater Manchester says it doesn’t work and has been a waste of £450Million.

Lessons are… too many meetings, too many organisation changes and meetings and little doing or change.”
